Originating from west central Anatolia in Turkey, Oushak Rugs are prized for their historical significance, intricate designs and warm colours such as red and brown. Known since the 16th century, they've been featured in famous works of art by Holbein, Velasquez and others, and were popular in Europe until the 18th century. These rugs feature 'medallion' and 'star' motifs in royal colours. Woven using the symmetrical Ghiordes knot, they use high quality silky wool, loose knots and a palette of cinnamon, terracotta, blue, gold and more. Their distinctive oval or star-shaped medallions and floral patterns maintain historical roots while adapting to evolving design trends.
